'I am a wife and mother to a large family'

I am a wife and mother to a large family. Yes I am crazy but it’s too late now. So I would say birth is my forte and educating about and attending births is a passion.

I love changing people’s perceptions around birth and making couples feel exited so that they look forward to the big event. I think birth is given a lot of negative publicity from movies etc. Birth is the most normal organic physiological expression of a woman’s reproductive and cognitive life. In short it’s normal and natural just like breathing and other bodily functions. It is not a medical crisis that needs to be dealt with. It really is a special and sacred experience if you make good choices and have the right team

When I had my first baby I was petrified and told my birth educator that I was having a planned Caesar under general anesthetic. Well the short story is that it never happened. I used a doula and went in with an open mind (and a closed cervix) and had a beautiful birth experience. I feel very blessed to have had that and my wish is for other moms to have that too.

My main aim is for parents to have a positive birth experience. It isn’t about having or not having an epidural or Caesar; my role is to facilitate as best I can the wishes of the parents. The outcome is not in our hands.

I work privately with my clients and go to any hospital, birth centre or home environment that they choose to birth in.
